Orihuela-Costa has a pleasant climate with an average temperature of 20º C and> 300 sunny days a year.

The absence of heavy industry and the presence of the major salinas (salt lakes) nearby, is known the air in the region as very clean. The area is therefore popular with the elderly and the sick with all kinds of chronic health problems. It is said that the environment promotes health because of the relatively high concentrations of iodine in the air by the presence of salt lakes (salinas). The salinity of these salinas is more than 3% higher than the Dead Sea, and bathing allowed in some places, whatever happened extensively by local and non-locals. Nearby are many clinics for cardiovascular diseases, rheumatism and skin diseases.

North of Orihuela Costa are the Salinas of Torrevieja and La Mata. This is a nature reserve where flamingos can be seen in the wild.

The beaches of Orihuela (Costa)

Only a few km. from historical and monumental city center of Torrevieja.
Orihuela has a beach length of 16 km. where several coastal villages nestling among the fine sandy beaches and cliffs overlooking the crystal clear waters.

It has many beaches of national and international prestige, all with "Blue colors" such as:
- Punta Prima,
- Playa Flamenca (Cala Mosca and Cala Estaca)
- Zenia Beach (Cala Cerrada and Cala Bosque)
- Cabo Roig (Cala Capitan and Caleta Beach)
- Campoamor Beach (Agua Marina, La Glea and Barranco Rubio)
- And Mil Palmeras Beach.

From north to south along the coast of Orihuela Costa will be successively Punta Prima, La Mosca, Cala Peñas, Cala Mosca, Cala Estaca, Playa Flamenca, Cala Cerrada, Cala Bosque, La Zenia, Cala Capitan, Isla Del Carmen, Cabo Roig , Cala Caleta, Aguamarina, Playa de la Regia, Playa de la Glea, Punta del Cuervo, Campoamor, Playa Barranco Rubio, Playa Palmeras Mil Palmeras.

Between the urbanisations of Orihuela Costa are also four 18-hole golf courses with 72 holes and an area of 1.7 million sqm. In this internationally recognized golf courses, regularly important European golf tournaments instead. These four courses are successively:

Marinas.

In Orihuela-Costa are two marinas, namely:Cabo Roig, located in urbanization Cabo Roig & Campoamor, located in urbanization Dehesa de Campoamor.Both marinas are of large size and a large number of berths. Here you can also enjoy various water sports.

Situation.

Orihuela-Costa is a coastal area as well as a borough within the municipality of Orihuela on the Costa Blanca South, in the province of Alicante in the Spanish autonomous region of Valencia on Spain's east coast.

This coastal area is a part of the municipality of Orihuela. The Orihuela Costa coastline extends over a length of 16 km and is bordered in the north to the Spanish port city of Torrevieja in the south of the autonomous region of Murcia. Orihuela-Costa are 57 residential areas, four golf courses and two marinas. Orihuela-Costa is internationally known for his playas with beautiful white sand beaches and clear waters, creeks (calas), interspersed by high steep cliffs (acantilados). Several beaches in Orihuela Costa have been awarded the Blue Flag.
